  • Homeopathy for Stages of Childhood

    Homeopathy for Stages of Childhood

Homeopathy for Different Stages of Childhood

Homeopathy can be used for all ages of life and is particularly popular with parents who want a more natural and holistic approach for their babies and children. Homeopathy is based on the individuality and uniqueness of each and every child. Homeopathy always treats the person as a whole, not just their symptoms.

I am constantly asked about homeopathy for babies and children, and all the different age ranges, so I’m setting out a general timeline here which might be of help.

Homeopathy for Babies under 3 months

It is during this time period that babies may start to suffer with colic, reflux, constipation, feeding issues (bottle and/or breast), eczema, and/or sleep issues. All these issues can impact Mum and Dad as they worry about their baby but also sleep deprivation is starting to kick in and take its toll.

Mums might be having some breastfeeding or postnatal problems which often leads them to seek out homeopathy. Homeopathy is very popular for acute everyday complaints such as colds, coughs, earaches, sore throats and much more. Please check the Free Info section of this website for lots of guidance on remedies for acute prescribing.

Homeopathy for Babies aged 3 – 12 months

Now that Baby is a bit older, sleep can still be an issue so if baby is not sleeping through the night, and you’re all exhausted, homeopathy can be considered.

Eczema or other skin issues may start during this time. This can happen around the time of weaning but can happen earlier or later than that too. Some babies just have it from early on, while others get it when slightly older. Many homeopathic remedies are popular for dry skin such as silica, calc carb, sulphur and graphites.

Teething can start to flare up now too. Some babies cope well with teething but others can struggle with pain, excess drooling, bad moods (understandably), disturbed sleep, etc.

Mum may be feeling exhausted, lacking motivation, depressed, struggling to lose weight, or hormones haven’t settled back. Sepia, Pulsatilla, Phos-ac, Calc-carb are some of the remedies to be considered.

Acute illnesses may be turning into recurring complaints now – typical ailments which recur can be coughs, croup, earaches, conjunctivitis, tonsillitis, constipation. Homeopathy focuses on an individual’s tendency and susceptibility to particular complaints. Having a consult with a homeopath is recommended.

Homeopathy for Babies over 12 months

As Baby gets older, more acute and recurring illness can occur. Typical childhood illnesses that we are all familiar with become a possibility. Some Mums have gone back to work outside the home and baby might be more susceptible to picking up bugs and viruses. Sleep can still be an issue!

Children are learning to walk so bumps and knocks happen. Having homeopathic remedies in the home is a good idea at this stage.

Make sure to check the Free Info section on this website to learn the top remedies for various acute complaints.

    Homeopathy for Toddlers

Toilet training can be a straightforward and pleasant experience for some children. For others, not so much. Some toddlers are afraid to go without a nappy, embarrassed, holding on and refusing to go. There are many possible remedies to be considered for this such as Ambra Grisea, Aconite or Lycopodium.

As children start to get older, bedwetting can become an issue. Remedies including Phosphorous, Apis, Silica, Lycopodium are a few which might be considered.

Homeopathy can be used for all ages and as children start to get older it can be a useful tool to have in your healthcare toolbox. Having remedies and a good book will support and empower you to use homeopathy in your home.

  • First Steps of Homeopathy

    First Steps of Homeopathy

I’m guessing if you have opened this blog that you would love to use homeopathy but don’t have a clue where to start! You might be confused and not sure how to get started or which remedy to choose. Don’t worry, you are in the right place!

People who follow a natural way of life often look at natural healthcare approaches and inevitably find their way to the wonder of homeopathy.

There are two ways of using homeopathy –

Most homeopathy fans probably do a bit of both. Use remedies at home (called ‘home prescribing’ or ‘acute prescribing’) for acute everyday complaints and it is quite easy to home prescribe believe it or not. Just takes some learning and familiarity, a good book and a bit of analysis.

You can definitely do this. It is a great feeling of empowerment and responsibility to home prescribe for yourself and your loved ones.

See below for the step by step approach.

Do I need to consult a Homeopath?

People tend to consult homeopaths when they have recurring, chronic or serious complaints. Homeopaths work with the complete individual with all their own characteristic traits rather than one dis-ease label or complaint. This takes the complete holistic picture of the person into account and matches remedies based on this information. Most homeopaths also offer acute consults to their clients, when needed.

Lots of home prescribers are very proficient in selecting remedies so you don’t always need a consult.

For any questions or if you are unsure of anything, best to join my Facebook group and ask there. You can also message me direct via that group, or from my Facebook business page HERE.

Hope this helps get you started. It is a great feeling using homeopathy for yourself.
